Experts Exchange: Opportunities in Bio-Innovation

Lawrence Drzal, MSU University Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and Mechanics, will speak at the MSU Bioeconomy Institute in Holland, Mich., on Wed., Nov. 4 at 7:30am. The talk, entitled "Structural and Multifunctional Biomaterials,” is the third event in the MSU Bioeconomy Institute’s early morning speaker series, Experts Exchange: Opportunities in Bio-Innovation.
Drzal led the research group that developed a nanoscale material called xGnP Exfoliated Graphite NanoPlatelets, with a unique set of physical, chemical and morphological attributes. It is manufactured by a new startup company, XG Sciences Inc. (www.xgsciences.com), located in mid-Michigan, a spinoff from intellectual property owned by MSU. XG Sciences has an exclusive license to manufacture this material.

The MSU Bioeconomy Institute, located at 242 Howard Ave., Holland, Mich., opened in spring 2009 in a research and development building and pilot plant donated by Pfizer Inc.
